| Choosing a Provider It’s important that you have confidence in, and feel comfortable with, the professionals who provide you with health care. This is true when you choose your Primary Care Provider, and it’s just as true when you see a specialist. In general, our primary care providers focus on two areas of medicine: Pediatrics (primary care for children) and Family Medicine (adult primary care) whose practitioners care for all the family’s members. In addition to the qualified providers featured here, remember that we have many helpful nurses and support staff to help you receive care. You may be coming to Coos County Family Health Services for other services, such as WIC, RESPONSE or Family Planning; we want to be sure that you see a provider with whom you feel comfortable. Choosing a provider is an important decision that only you can make. Please take the time to review the providers through this directory. Whomever you choose, we want you to feel comfortable asking questions and spending time with your provider. We want you to trust the advice your provider gives you and feel that you can talk openly and establish a partnership with him or her. As important as credentials are, it is the ability of the provider to comfortably interact with you and meet all your health needs that really counts. As you make your decision, factors to consider may include: • Languages spoken • Qualifications • Special interests • Whether you prefer a male or female provider • Comfort level with the provider • The provider’s availability |
