Our Program

Training Physicians to Transform Rural Health

We are pleased to introduce our ACGME-accredited Family Medicine Residency Program in the heart of rural Northern New Hampshire. The program is a collaborative partnership between North Country Healthcare, a regional healthcare system that includes critical access hospitals, home health and hospice and palliative care services, and Coos County Family Health Services, a Federally Qualified Health Center dedicated to providing accessible, community-based care.

Together, these organizations form the White Mountains Medical Education Consortium, creating an innovative training environment that addresses the healthcare needs of rural communities while preparing the next generation of family physicians. Grounded in service, access, and community engagement, the residency provides comprehensive training across the continuum of care, equipping residents to deliver high-quality, compassionate healthcare and to become leaders who improve the health and well-being of the communities they serve.

A Community Invested in Your Success

Part of the story of this residency is that it’s not just sponsored by two organizations, but supported by an entire region that wants physicians to train, practice, and stay in the North Country.

The White Mountains Medical Education Consortium brings together healthcare organizations, educational partners, community leaders, and residents who share a commitment to improving the health of rural northern New Hampshire. In addition to North Country Healthcare and Coos County Family Health Services, residents benefit from partnerships with organizations such as Littleton Regional Healthcare, Children’s Hospital of Michigan, the University of New England, Dartmouth Health, the New Hampshire Office of Rural Health and Primary Care, and other family medicine residency programs throughout New England.

These collaborations provide a rich educational experience while demonstrating the region’s shared commitment to training and supporting the next generation of family physicians. Throughout training, residents will find communities that are invested in their success, eager to participate in their education, and committed to welcoming physicians who choose to serve rural communities.
