Our Region and Community

Includes small towns and communities such as Berlin, Lancaster, Colebrook, and Pittsburg—the latter being the northernmost town in the state and near the Canadian border.

Historically driven by the timber and paper industries, the region has seen economic shifts and now relies heavily on tourism, outdoor recreation (hiking, hunting, fishing, snowmobiling), and small-scale agriculture.

The North Country has a strong sense of local identity and pride, shaped by its rural character, self-reliance, and close-knit communities. French-Canadian heritage is also prominent due to proximity to Quebec.

Offers four-season recreation, including snowmobiling (boasting one of the best trail networks in the East), hiking trails, moose watching, ATV riding, camping, and leaf peeping in the fall.

Need map to show proximity to Concord, Manchester, Boston, Burlington, Portland, Montreal
